Privacy Policy

KidWeek DMV helps families find and plan kids' activities. We collect only what we need to do that. We don't sell or rent your information, we don't show ads, and we don't track you across other websites.
What we collect
- Your account: your email address, and your spouse's email if you invite them.
- About your kids: a nickname and birth month for each child, used only to match activities to their ages. We never ask for children's full names, birthdays, photos or schools.
- Your settings: home ZIP code, drive time, budget, days and times that work, words you've chosen to hide, and similar filters.
- Your plans: activities you save to your calendar, notes, and what you mark as done or skipped (this is also your homeschool record).
- What you send us: ideas you share, listing reports and feedback.
- Location, only when you ask: if you tap "current location" under Near, your browser shares your position for that search. We use it to sort by distance; your device remembers it until you close the tab, and we don't store it.
- Basic usage: counts of how often a listing is saved, clicked, kept or swapped, used to mark places as popular. These counts aren't tied to your name.
- Payments: Stripe handles your card. We see whether your membership is active, but never your card number.
How we use it
- To show activities that fit your family, plan your week, and keep your calendar and phone calendar feed up to date.
- To email you sign-in links, the weekly preview (you can turn it off in Family & filters) and important account notices.
- To review ideas members share and keep listings within our family content standard.
- To run, secure and improve the service.
Who helps us run the service
We share information only with the companies that run parts of the service for us, and only what each needs:
- Cloudflare: hosting, database and email forwarding.
- Resend: sends our emails.
- Stripe: payments.
- Anthropic: AI that reads public event calendars and screens ideas members share. The text of an idea you share may be sent to it for review; your account details are not.
- Google Fonts: supplies the font the site uses, so your browser contacts Google when pages load.
We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect children's safety as described in our Terms.
Things you share on purpose
- Your spouse sees and edits the same kids, settings and calendar.
- Shared week links show that week's activities, times and places to anyone with the link, never your kids' names. You can turn links off anytime in Family & filters.
- Your calendar feed link lets your phone's calendar show your plans. Treat it like a password.
Cookies and storage on your device
We use one cookie to keep you signed in. The site also saves a few things on your device: your last-used email on the sign-in page, a gift code while you claim it, and, in the installed app, a copy of pages you've viewed so they work offline. Signing out clears your saved family data from that device. We use no advertising or tracking cookies.
How long we keep it
We keep your account information while your account is open. Sign-in links expire after 30 minutes.
When you close your account (Family & filters > Close my account), we delete right away: your account and email, your kids' nicknames and birth months, your settings and hidden words, your calendar and homeschool record, your shared week links, your saved sign-ins, and your spouse's link to your family (they keep their own empty account).
Some things stay, because we must keep them or they no longer identify you:
- Payment records at Stripe, which tax and payment rules require.
- Our record of which version of the Terms you agreed to and when, kept as proof of agreement.
- Ideas you shared that we published, without your name, and anonymous counts like how often a listing was saved.
- Short-lived copies in our email and hosting providers' logs, which they delete on their own schedules.
Your choices
- See and change your kids, settings and calendar anytime in the app.
- Turn off the weekly email (or use the unsubscribe link in it), turn off shared links, or stop sharing with your spouse. Sign-in links and billing notices still come when needed.
- Close your account yourself in Family & filters, or email hello@kidweekdmv.com for a copy of your data.
California residents
If you live in California, the California Consumer Privacy Act gives you the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use and share it (this policy), to get a copy of it, to have it corrected or deleted, and not to be treated differently for using these rights. We do not sell or share personal information for advertising, as those terms are defined in that law, so there is nothing to opt out of. To make a request, email hello@kidweekdmv.com from your account's email address; we'll confirm it's you and respond within 45 days. You may use an authorized agent with your written permission. Residents of other states with similar laws can make the same requests.
Children
KidWeek DMV is for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13, and children shouldn't create accounts. The child details parents add (a nickname and birth month) are provided by the parent and used only to match activities.
Security
We use secure connections everywhere, no passwords to steal, and sign-in links that expire. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will tell you if a breach affects you.
Changes and contact
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll email members before it takes effect. Questions or requests: hello@kidweekdmv.com.
